Even though Twitter’s had its own URL shortener, it’s still not what everyone immediately springs for when they want to shorten a web address. To bring people around to the ways of the blue bird, Twitter is phasing in the use of converting all links — even those made under a different URL shortener — to their server: t.co. Overall, it will help reduce spam and provide a better analytical system for things like Promoted Tweets. To make things even more inconspicuous, you’ll be re-routed through t.co without even knowing it while your original link will be visible. Transparency: Twitter Has It.
