Opera/Chrome Rivalry “Downfall”

The latest release of Opera’s 10.60 browser boasted ‘What is faster than the fastest?’ Although tests by Lifehacker and DailyTech show that Opera is still not as fast as Chrome or Safari, it’s really made some headway in the new version. Nevertheless, an Opera-employed copywriter put together a video of one of the most overused — but still entertaining — internet memes: alternative subtitles to the famous Hitler outburst scene from the film ‘Der Untergang’ — aka ‘Downfall’ (via Download Squad).

Miller Starlight Movie Night – July 1 & 2

We were just going to post one film to see for free this weekend, but the Miller Outdoor Theatre decided to be doubly awesome and show two science fiction films, two nights in a row. Tonight, watch the Forbidden Planet, one of the most classic science fiction movies of all time. On Friday, check out some NASA exhibits and then the heroic film, Apollo 13.

Woot to be acquired by Amazon

The awesome people who brought us the Bag of Crap and all the other geeky deals that we drool over are soon going to join the big tree of Amazon. Woot HQ will remain in Carrollton, Texas, and will operate as autonomously as other Amazon companies like Zappos and Audible. More to come, but we’ll just be hiding under the bed for now — or hanging out with this rapping monkey.

Leaky iPad’s

It seems like it took Apple years to bring us the Jesus Pad — it did, roughly three. One would assume that after such a prolonged period of R&D (Research and Development for the acronym challenged) that the device would be rock solid, and would have a cool name (oh well…).

Thanks to the efforts of a hacker group called Goatse Security (Shoutout!), the iPad has been shown to be rotten to the core. Sorry I couldn’t help myself, it was just hanging out there begging me to take a bite…(and that double pun is still better than the name iPad) moving on…

The issue with the iPad lies within the mobile Safari browser. The browser is susceptible to an “attack” utilizing a vulnerability that was initially discovered in Safari earlier this year. Continue Reading
